Dear Members,
The Gallery's strategic planning process is now underway, and is expected to be largely concluded by the end of August. Understanding that the summer can be busy, it is our intention to focus member consultation efforts in the months of May and June.
After careful review of the 7 responses to our terms of reference, Kathleen Darby was selected as our strategic planning consultant. Kathleen has more than 20 years experience in leading and directing cultural organizations across western Canada. She has developed and written numerous strategic and business plans, most for public organizations with budgets under $500,000. Following a May 6 inception meeting, Kathleen is now well into the first phase of her work - a full review of the operations of the Gallery.
We are now seeking your input through an internet survey that is on the Seymour Art Gallery website at;
http://www.seymourartgallery.com/survey.phpThe survey is also available in paper form in the Gallery Shop. For members without internet access, the survey will be mailed out via regular mail. We strongly encourage all members to go online and complete this short survey, which will provide crucial guidance to subsequent phases of the strategic planning process.
In addition, we ask that you note the date of May 29, 2010 in your calendars, as on this day we will be hosting a planning workshop from 1 to 5 in the afternoon. We are still confirming an appropriate location for this workshop in the Deep Cove/Seymour area. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend as this workshop, combined with the results of the survey consultation, will be important input to the future of the Gallery. The planning workshop will be presented in a format that is informative, interactive and a lot of fun. It will be a great opportunity for you to get to know your fellow members better and to have a stake in the future success of the Gallery.
Please contact the Gallery at info@seymourartgallery.com or (604) 924-1378 to RSVP for the May 29 workshop by May 21, so that we can plan an effective workshop.
Looking forward to your input,
Your Board of Directors
