Gallery Administrator Appointment:
The Board of Directors of the Seymour Art Gallery has accepted Nell Burns' resignation as our Gallery Administrator on September 27, with regret. Over the last 6 years, Nell has been a very good friend to the Gallery and generous volunteer in the Gallery and Shop, as well as a very valued employee. We will miss her good-nature and diligence, as well as the sense of continuity and "institutional memory" that she has provided for the Gallery.
After Nell announced her resignation, the Board interviewed two very qualified candidates from among the ranks of the Gallery volunteers and selected Marina van den Berg to assume the Administrator position. Since arriving from South Africa in late 2010, Marina has been a very willing volunteer in the Gallery and Shop, including most of the Seymour Art Festival openings in June, and is already known to a number of Gallery members and artists.
Marina started work on Thursday September 29 and will be in the Gallery for a full day every Thursday and Friday, and for a long morning every Tuesday. Members and artists who were unable to attend the "Farewell Nell" tea, held in the Gallery on Nell's last afternoon of work, are invited to make Marina's acquaintance on their next visit to the Gallery.
