The Seymour Art Gallery Society

Established in 1985 and in operation for over 23 years, the Seymour Art Gallery is a public, non profit society that has a reputation for artistic excellence in its' gallery, educational and community programming. The gallery is a leader in community life in the Seymour/Deep Cove area and has established a strong foundation of communication support.


Artists We Need You!

Calling all artists: The Seymour Art Gallery is always looking for submissions for exhibitions, so please contact the gallery for details of how to submit your work for jury. We are also looking for artists to submit pieces for sale in the Gallery shop. Again please contact us for details.


Volunteers We Need You!

Alan Bell (President)

Alan Bell After obtaining degrees in Art History & Architecture, Alan spent most of his professional career as a project planner/manager with Arthur Erickson, with a special focus on the early stages of large overseas projects. Alan was immersed in Vancouver's visual arts community from an early age through his mother, who was instrumental in the Vancouver Art Gallery Shop and BC Society of Artists, and father, noted printmaker Alistair Bell who had several exhibitions at the Seymour Art Gallery. Alan and his wife have lived in a self-designed Deep Cove "cliff-hanger" since 1975.

Anne Love (Vice President)

Anne Love (Textiles, U of Maryland). Exhibited with the Vancouver Guild of Fabric Arts, in the Canadian Craft museum, most of the galleries in the lower mainland and in Washington State. Vice President, President, Exhibitions Chair, Publicity Chair, Coordinator 20th Celebration for the Vancouver Guild of Fabric Arts. Juror for Crafts & Fashion at the PNE and other craft and art competitions in B.C. Seymour Art Gallery - directed & produced video for exhibition, co-curated exhibition the Boudoir, narrated a fashion show, volunteer for the gift shop. Published in North Shore News, Vancouver Sun, Arts Alive, Artichoke, Where, Soft Dolls & Animals Magazine, Quilting Arts magazine.

Norm Godding (Treasurer)

Norm Godding Norm Godding is the senior partner of Godding Sheane Chartered Accountants, a North Shore accounting practice located at the Lonsdale Quay since 1986. His directorships included non-profit and corporate boards as follows; Haig-Brown Institute, Cascade Renewable Carbon Corp., Great Southern Enterprises Corp. (public), YVR Resorts International Inc. As part of the provincially proclaimed 2008 Haig-Brown Centenary, he co-produced a one-man stage production, "Why I Fish - An Evening With Haig-Brown", which premiered in August 2008 at Campbell River, and currently is in the early stages of preparing for a provincial tour. Norm is an avid outdoorsman, including hunting and fishing. He participates in competitive fly-fishing, and along with his team, won the "gold" at the 2005 Canadian National Fly Fishing Championships in Campbell River, BC. He has recently renewed his interest in painting in the "water colour" medium.

Stuart Ashman (Secretary)

Stuart Ashman A manager of Software Quality and Release teams for a global Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam company, Stuart has volunteered for the gallery for the past 2 years, helping set up the office network and resolving general computer issues, and looks after the gallery website. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree with Honours from the University of Kent at Canterbury in the UK. Stuart has been working in the Electronics and Software industry for about 24 years. Stuart and his wife moved from the UK to BC 5 years ago and instantly fell in love with Deep Cove and the gallery. The Seymour art gallery has always inspired and made us feel welcome and he is proud to be able to support it in any way he can.

Jodi Heinhorst

Jodi Heinhorst Jodi Heinhorst, BS (U of Illinois, Textiles/Marketing). Jodi is a jewelry artist with a career background in publishing sales & marketing, acquisitions, and editorial . Jodi is also a current strata board president.

Mary Mahon Jones

Mary Mahon Jones Mary Mahon Jones is a graduate of the University of Guelph and Queens University, and holds separate degrees in Fine Arts and Education. Her working career has focused on culture and tourism: from a decade of work as a gallery educator at Saskatchewan's MacKenzie Art Gallery in the 1980's, to heading up SaskCulture, which provided lottery funding to cultural organizations, until 1998, followed by another decade as the CEO of BC's tourism industry association (COTA). While in Saskatchewan, she was an enthusiastic volunteer, which includes terms as President of the Museums Association of Saskatchewan and Chair of the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation. In BC, she served as a member of the Board of the Vancouver Playhouse.

After stepping down from COTA in 2007, Mary opened her own business, providing consulting services focused on tourism and culture. To date, her principal clients have been the Canadian Tourism Commission and Parks Canada.

Mary enjoys gardening, jewelry-making, canoeing and kayaking, and lives in Deep Cove with her husband Bob and two very spoiled cats.

Larry Belsito

Larry Belsito Larry has spent the last 45 years in the hotel business, 15 years on the accounting side, and 30 years as General Manager of hotels across Canada as well as in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Fiji, Dubai, Qatar and the USA. He has served on Tourism Boards in Vancouver, Puerto Rico, Fiji and Dubai; the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Task Force; Advisory Board of Random Acts of Kindness in BC; and as served as President at various times of Rotary, Vancouver Hotel Association and Skal International Vancouver.

Sande Waters

Sande Waters Sande Waters lives and works in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, BC. She received her BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, 2006 and her MFA from San Francisco Art Institute, 2009. Her paintings, drawings and photographs have been shown in Vancouver and San Francisco.

Tammy Chamberlayne

Tammy Chamberlyne For many years I have lived in Deep Cove with my husband, and our two sons. I have always taken great pride in the fact that Deep Cove is fortunate enough to be the home of The Seymour Art Gallery. I first got involved with the Gallery when my husband began selling his photography in the Gallery Shop. Since then I have been volunteering and Fundraising for the Gallery. Art, Music & Culture are a very important part of my life and it gives me great pleasure to serve this wonderful Community organization.

The Volunteers

The Seymour Art Gallery could not exist without the help of so many willing and able volunteers. Taking on all tasks from working in the Gallery Shop, helping customers find what they need and providing valuable background on the artists and their work, to helping to install each exhibit.
